I’m immensely interested in a career in game and graphic design. Where do I start?
I’m your average, high-school age geek with an Brobdingnagian welfare with creating my possess art and sci-fi/fantasy/pretty such anything/etc images. I LOVE photography. Currently attractive Art 1 at my high school, and plan to verify Advanced Art, Computer Tech (<—idk if that has anything to do with anything), and Photo Arts 1 somewhere in my incoming 3 1/2 eld of high school education.
What programs likewise Adobe Photoshop 7 should I countenance into? What can I do to alter my fictive horizons (or something same that) and countenance into the career?
Thanks for the advice!! =]
Start looking at graphic design books. read. read. read. go to the library and check out as many books as you can relating to design, and start looking at different artists, and try to find a style that you like.
Adobe photoshop 7 is pretty old. If you want the latest, check out the new Adobe CS4 programs (they are fantastic)
Also take a look at my design blog to see some of my work.

I’ve been a graphic designer for 3 years now. (after 4 years of college). I’ve seen companies that require such programs as-Adobe Flash (will be helpful for game design, and you will need to learn it for classes in game design). Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Quark express, Adobe Indesign and The Corel suite. Where do you start? I would say studying other designers work, define what makes them so successful, and appealing to the eye. Read some of the many great books on classic and modern design. In college for the first 3 or so years, people getting degree’s in visual communications (graphic design) and game design, take the exact same courses. Computer tech will be helpful- I have a part time job as an IT guy for a college campus. (full time designer). And finally one of the most important things you can do to help yourself in the future is- Design, using the basic rules and guidlines of graphic design. Make sure you keep all your work for your future portfolio- It will be your life.
Hope this was helpful
